Past lives ripple into now... (past life reading meditation)

Past lives ripple into now...

This is to be read as a guided meditation to bring you to a past life experience.

Now we begin...

Find yourself in a quiet, comfortable place, away from distractions and disruptions which affect your concentration to your now.  Now being this state of consciousness you are now in where you can feel the sensations and stimulations on a physical level, if you permit that, for all reality's perceptions are based on permissions.  You must give yourself permission to relax.  Find your attention on these words as they flow across your mind.  Give your blessing as you feel yourself slowly relax into your now, there may be some slight discomfort, so as you notice discomfort, breath in and out slowly and feel it soften and become easier, just notice the sensations and feelings in your body now.

Bring your awareness to your toes and feel it begin to slowly fill you up like a ripple begins at your toes and echoes into your feet relaxing and making smooth and easy all the little muscles in your feet as it gently spreads through your ankles and up your calves, with a wave of peace it flows around your knees, unraveling the muscles there as it flows up your thighs into your waist and hips releasing held tension and tightness in these areas, relaxing you more and more.

Now slowly your lower abdomen fills with this liquid ripple of relaxation, flowing through your stomach, unraveling all the muscles around your spine as it moves up your back and into your chest and shoulders, feeling them loosen and begin to melt away tension with each breath that you take moving you further into stillness. This ripple begins through your throat and up your neck into your jaw. You feel your jaw gently release as this flow goes up around your eyes letting all the little muscles around your eyes reading this to get just a little more relaxed and gently focused on the words.

And now follow your imagination as you go down a staircase of ten steps, each step bringing your body and mind into deeper and deeper stillness, ten times deeper with each step that you go down, through the first step to the second. Now feeling the depths of thirty times deeper as you take the third step and on to the fourth. Letting all of the worries and fears clouding your experience to just fade out as you take the fifth and sixth steps. Feeling yourself in that open detached state of peace as you take the seventh and then eighth steps.  As you take the last two steps you feel yourself in this deep rhythmic flow of relaxation, one hundred times more relaxed.

At the base of the steps you find yourself in a room with a door at the opposite end of it.  This place feels familiar and safe to you as you cross the room and come to the door. There is a sign on the door. It has the words, "Door of Time," written on it.  You open the door and see a swirling mist floating out beyond the doorway, almost like you are looking off a ledge out into a deep space of clouds.

Now before you step out into the mist, I want you to ask your subconscious mind to bring up a current issue you are working on in your life, something you would like help with resolving, and I want you to hold this vision of this situation in your mind.  Now envision that issue flying out of your mind and into the open doorway. This will set up your experience to place you in a former existence where you handled or dealt with a similar issue or problem so that you may learn how it was resolved.

Standing at the doorway now you step out into the mist and feel yourself with the sensation of flying through clouds.  You feel the cool mist flowing through and around you and there is a chill in the air of the swirling air moving around you.  As you are floating there safely you feel the winds move faster and you feel yourself drifting through your timeline back through your past, before your birth, bringing you to another lifetime, another experience of living.  You feel yourself begin to descend back towards the world coming down from the clouds moving into the body of another life that you have lived.

You find yourself a reflection and see what you looked like, smelling the smells of the place, checking in with how this entity feels about their situation and what they are doing.  Noticing your clothing and the decorations of the place you can have an idea of the time period. You know what this person's job or work is, you can feel their family connections and perhaps see similar ones to your own current life.  You can now feel the connection to this entity's life situation and how it corresponds to the life issues you are working on.

Connecting inside this entity's life record by focusing inside of their body, you ask it to bring you to the point of resolution to the issue or problem so that you may learn and make the connection to your now.  You feel yourself shift through this being's life, flowing into their future which has already happened.  You then find yourself at another point and time in the entity's life where the resolution was brought to a close and you can feel the joy of moving forward in this entity's experience.  You connect with how this will help your current situation understanding how and why things played out the way they did.

You feel the closure in this being's life and thank it immensely for sharing their experience and learning with you now.  You feel the completion and disconnect as you begin to float up out the body up into the sky and back to the flowing field of clouds.  You feel the coolness and dampness from the clouds move through you clearing attachments to that previous life and you look out through the clouds and notice the doorway still there in the sky out in the distance.  You begin to float towards it and you feel yourself shift forward in time to your present timeline.

As you step back into the room with the stairs, you can feel the understanding of the visit to a previous lifetime echo through your mind.  You feel a deep sense of gratitude for yourself on your healing journey and know that this experience was there to show you how to clarify your experiences in the present world.  You gently make your way back to the steps knowing that you are coming back into the regular world with new insight and focus.

As you come up each of the ten steps you begin to feel yourself fully engage with the room or space you are in as you read this, feeling supported and safe, refreshed and relaxed.  Bringing your attention back to your fingers and toes, your arms and legs, flowing into your body and head, finding yourself behind your eyes as you are alert and refocused, wide awake and wonderful.

Now reflect on what you have gained from this experience.

Please leave some comments or some of your experiences below as you experiment with reading through this past life regression reading meditation and getting different results.  Each time you do it, you will connect with what you are seeking answers to.

Safe travels as we explore the endless boundaries of our consciousness together!

Emotional scars are like internal tattoos...

The tattoo parlor of the unconscious and subconscious mind is an interesting place to pick up some new ink...

This lair of our mind holds all of those important events, whether positive or negative...

It leaves its scars as tattoos on the psyche, shaping, altering and traumatizing our experience of the world. We hold our "tattoos" of trauma closely at the core of our perceptual filter for our lives.  The scars sit closely to those triggers which call us into patterns of accepted behaviors we have conditioned our lives to be.  Sometimes those scars become our comfort, they become our safe place when we need something to fall back on.

So what are these "trauma tattoos" that so many of our minds are covered in?

Events which create extreme stress and anxiety tend to imprint deeply in our persona.  These may be echoes of events from early on in life, or of events we experienced just yesterday.  The effect of these moments creates that anxiety and stress that permeates every aspect of our being.  With one little catalyst we can spiral into our behaviors and coping mechanisms as though we are right back there with the event, as though we never left it.  For soldiers, this is a common occurrence when they are engaged in battle. This has been called "shell shock,"combat stress reaction, battle fatigue, and now its most commonly referred to as post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.

These scars have trouble being released because they were not fully embraced, however difficult that may sound...

Letting go, while it seems like it should be easy, can be a very arduous task and this is especially true in cases of trauma. Think of it like a sink filled with dirty dishes.  Usually, you would just rinse off the dirty dishes and put them in the dishwasher, letting go of their filth and releasing the attachment to the dirt that they have built up. The person with PTSD or with traumatic dramas has a damaged faucet and dishwasher. Their faucet won't wash off the dishes and now the gunk on the plates is caked all over the sides of the sink! This gunk just builds up and up sealing the unaltered sink. This sink is like your mind, with the grime being those painful scarring memories of your past.  You just can't seem to wash the pain or difficult memories away.

What we need here is something to get the painful memories to release, to let go of their hold on our psychological well-being.

Ok, so here's the hard part, but it can be accomplished in a softer way...

We have to revisit those traumatic events in order to fully free ourselves of their grasp. Did just the mention of this idea send a shudder through you.  Don't worry,  we are going to do this as gently as possible, it will be tough though.

Just as a good doctor will tell you to let the fever run its course, so it is with our mental disruptions as well.  We rob ourselves of the fullness of an experience when we recoil, or shut down, or become unconscious to what is transpiring. This compounds in our subconscious, creating a feeling of anxiety and distress when we remember the experience because we never let the difficulty and pain run its course in our emotional body.  Our body is naturally cathartic and will initiate its own fail safe as we process really hard events, but only if we can be aware of all of the emotions that arise.  This attention to the pain and discomfort lets it run its course just as a fever needs to.

So this can be really upsetting depending on what your stressor was...

What are some ways to diffuse or release the gunk that has clogged up our perception?

First things first, reliving and really acknowledging and embracing those difficult feelings will be hard to do, but it is truly vital.  Once they have been fully expressed they can be seen as what they are, emotions and feelings and nothing more.  They lose their power when the light of awareness comes upon them.  This awareness can be fostered using some Sedona Method work by asking yourself if you are able to let go of the held emotion or held attachments to the traumas.  Then you ask if you would be able to let go, thereby empowering your self confidence. Lastly you would simply ask when you will be able to let this go.  What this does is diffuse the emotional energy bomb attached to the trauma and makes it so that it can be released over time in a safe way.

Another way, still requiring some revisiting, but in a more muted way, involves going back to the event or events from a distance and keeping awareness on the event while you do EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as tapping.  This will send a vibration accompanied by intention statements and reframing statements to help shift the blockages caused by the held or trapped emotions.

Still another very powerful method involves hypnotherapy work where we go in and replay the trauma from a safe distance. We gently break through to become fully present and aware of it in order to diffuse the power we have given it to control our lives with fear, shame, guilt, or any of the other lower energetic emotions.  This still brings us back to it, but in a more distant way depending on the hypnotherapist or program they are working with.

These tattoos of our life experiences are just as permanent as our external ones.

Taking the power out of their control over our emotional lives is how we can stop letting them control our perception of the world.  This will free our experience so we can grow and transform into our highest selves in this lifetime.

The memories may never fade, but the power we let them have over our lives is something you have the power to change...

What are you waiting for?

A brief introduction to my EFT and to Life Coaching/Spiritual Counseling sessions

Rev. Brien Egan's individual EFT sessions use EFT and a blend with the Sedona method to help move through blocked issues in your life to help you to move through any issues such as weight loss, smoking cessation, anxiety, depression, trauma, ptsd, fears, anger, and past trauma. It can also help you to manifest things in your life by clearing blocks, whether spiritual or emotional so that you can help reach your goals.

What is the Emotional Freedom Technique?

The Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT (also referred to as "tapping," is the psychological acupressure technique developed by Gary Craig which I routinely use in my practice and most highly recommend to optimize your emotional health. Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing - no matter how devoted you are to the proper diet and lifestyle, you will not achieve your body's ideal healing and preventative powers if emotional barriers stand in your way.

EFT is very easy to learn, and will help you:

  • Remove Negative Emotions
  • Reduce Food Cravings
  • Reduce or Eliminate Pain
  • Implement Positive Goals

EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. and voice positive affirmations.

This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmation works to clear the "short-circuit" the emotional block -- from your body's bioenergy system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease. Some people are initially wary of these principles that EFT is based on - the electromagnetic energy that flows through the body and regulates our health is only recently becoming recognized in the West. Others are initially taken aback by (and sometimes amused by) the EFT tapping and affirmation methodology.

Life Coaching/Spiritual Counseling-
Rev. Brien's life coaching sessions are a combination of counseling, energy work (reiki and karuna reiki), EFT, Sedona method, hypnotherapy, qi gong, tarot, rune work, visualizations and meditations to help with any physical, emotional or spiritual malady affecting your life.

What is a life coach?

A life coach is someone who aims to help and empower others to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals - including excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled in the home, exploring the self and the world, and achieving ambitions.

By harnessing specialist techniques based on core psychological principals and natural intuition, life coaches provide clients with the tools to confidently face difficult situations, push past emotional barriers and eventually view life with fresh, hopeful and enlightened eyes.

Just as sports coaching enables athletes to hone themselves into the fastest, strongest, most tactical competitors in their disciplines, life coaching helps people from all professional and personal backgrounds improve their strengths and build upon their weaknesses to make the most of their lives.

A life coach will never try to be an 'agony aunt' - he or she will never attempt to dish out advice because, firstly -giving advice is just a way of imposing a personal view of the world onto another person (who may or may not share the same view) and, secondly - it is not a life coach's job to become personally involved in a client's life. Life coaching is about objectivity, structure and empowerment, not instruction or indoctrination.

At the heart of it all lies the idea that clients must be given the power to help themselves. Offering advice, opinions and judgements would undermine some of the basic principles behind life coaching, which include:

A) Subjectivity: we all have different perspectives of the world - no one perspective is 'right' or 'wrong', but some perspectives are restrictive and can stop a person becoming who they want to be.

B) Empowerment: it is within everyone's capability to adjust the limits of their own perspective. With the help of life coaching, anyone can learn to open their mind if they wish.

C) Guidance: there is a difference between an instructor and a guide. An instructor shows a person exactly what to do, whereas a guide provides the tools and support a person needs to do something for themselves. A life coach is a guide, not an instructor.

The term 'coaching' itself comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for 'carriage', which is a means of transporting something from one place to another. A life coach therefore, is an individual who guides another individual from where they are in life, to where they want to be in life.

Timeless awareness

To create healing now we must be in this presence to embody our past in order to move through it...

This awareness of now is the key to release, the key to peace and moving away from a life lived in the past or for the future.  So what does that truly mean, being in the now, living for today, or staying fully present?

Being present isn't just about being aware of where you are physically, although that is a factor. A main secret to it's mastery is in the embodiment of being in the now emotionally as well.  So what does that mean?  It means being beyond the emotions, knowing that they are but passing states caused by events in the past or future oncoming events we are focusing on.  The release of this pent up storage of feeling puts you beyond hurt or worry, to a place where it is easy to see that everything will work out in the right and perfect way.  We will see things as Thom Yorke from Radiohead put it with, "everything in its right place."

So just as I have been bringing back in over and over in these posts, a major part of emotional presence lies in embracing or acknowledging these feelings or emotions so that they can be let go of.  This isn't just referring to the negative feelings either, for good must be released as well.  When we let go of them we do not enter into some emotionless state though, if that is where your thoughts were taking you.  No, rather the opposite takes place really.  We go into a hyper-emotive state where we can more objectively see others emotions clearly as well as understand our own motivations for our feelings as well.

It's like stepping back and pulling the wool off of our emotional eyes so that we can understand all the "Whys" to our emotive experiences.

It gives us a clear picture of who we are without all of our emotional baggage that everyone gets buried under whether through suppression or from over expression.  Remember, suppression of emotions doesn't make them go away, they only fester and well up.

So let me give you a shovel so you can start to dig yourself out of this emotional grave...

An easy mental exercise to help you identify these aberrant emotions we are working to be beyond lies in seeing the emotions as detached from your highest self.  So how do we check in with this true self, with our "silent witness," as Deepak Chopra would call it?

Taking about ten minutes each day on your own to do this visualization will help to become more aware of yourself and your emotional states so that you can work to transcend.

Now follow along and visualize this to yourself, picture it in your mind, as you read along with me. First take a deep, full breath in, all the way down to your belly and let it out slowly now, and spend a few moments just focusing on your breath as it comes in and out slowly and calmly.  Now picture the sky up above you with the bright sun high up overhead.  Feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you continue to take deep full centering breaths calming and relaxing you now as you bask in the light of the sun.  Just be still in this moment.  Now as you are quiet and still notice as thoughts about your day, worries about deadlines or any of life's difficulties just spill out into your stillness, almost as though you are holding back a levee of thoughts and its slowly seeping out.  Now see in your mind these repetitive thoughts, some negative, some not, these thoughts you have about who you are and what you are, how you feel and what you think of your surroundings.  You know those thoughts that play like a tape recording throughout your day.  Watch now as the thoughts transform in your mind into clouds as they fill up the sky and block the warmth from the sun.  So now picture yourself safely rising up into the sky through those clouds of busy and negatively patterned thoughts.
Realize that as you are coming out of the cloud cover up back into the brilliance and warmth of the sun that you are moving beyond these limiting thoughts back to the you that is eternal.  You are transcending to the witness, that infinite part of you that is not attached to any emotions or preconceived notions of what the world is like. It is being in that childlike innocence.  This is where you are now.  See the clouds below you now as they drift past and feel the powerful connection from the warmth of the sun revitalizing your true self.  Know that you are beyond your emotions.  Now slowly bring yourself back into this space, the room you are in feeling comfortable and relaxed in your body, knowing in a deep place that you are better for this, and it is so.

Being beyond is its own state of perception, apart from our normal waking consciousness for the simple yet deeply significant fact that we become self aware and fully conscious in a metaphysically open state.

In other words, there is nothing binding us to our ego.  This is the hyper-conscious state that athletes describe when they are having their best performance or game and are in the flow state where everything seems effortless.

Keep practicing with the visualization and comment below on how it is helping you move to the timelessness of now.

Embracing the Shadow, Healing the Past

Maybe the only thing each of us can see is our own shadow. Carl Jung called this his shadow work. He said we never see others. Instead we see only aspects of ourselves that fall over them, shadows, projections, our associations. The same way old painters would sit in a tiny dark room and trace the image of what stood outside a tiny window, in the bright sunlight, the camera obscura. Not the exact image, but everything reversed or upside down.                                                                                                                                   Chuck Palahniuk

Can we illumine our shadows?

So what is our shadow self?
What definition does science give for the natural phenomenon of shadows?
Science tells us that a shadow is created where light is hidden from a space or blocked.  This creates a darker area where it is more difficult to see.  It is perceived as being shaded and less bright.  If an area is completely enveloped in shadow it may be an area of total pitch black darkness.  It will be an area without color or form.
Light is what gives these objects in the dark their shape and definition.  It illumines those hidden things and gives a meaning and purpose to reality.  As science tells us at the core level, we are all just packets of light quanta reflecting the hologram of the universe back giving consciousness to the matter created in the interconnection of the subatomic realms as space connects with time in all directions at once.  The blocking of the sun from what is being perceived almost makes it disappear in a way.  A shadow will conceal or distort what is truly there.  It will keep what is real masked and in the dark.  And so it is with us...
Carl Jung focused a great deal of his work on revealing and working with one's shadow self.  He was very interested in tearing away at those hidden constructs in our psyche which form negative aspects of the ego self.  The ego being that face which is put on for the public to see and judge with its masks and filters.  These efforts were made to study and know how the subconscious and unconscious mind work were so that he could learn and understand how to free our personality and persona from those negative behaviors and actions which have defined us and caused our reactions to the world.
His early work with Freud helped him to see how those aspects of ourselves that are imprinted on our subconscious mind at a very early age are able to dictate how we will act and be for our entire lives if attention and work is not done to adjust our behaviors and destinies.  He wanted to help show us how we can free our experience from the difficulties we create for ourselves in our life by becoming more conscious and aware.
His work looked at through the scope of Buddhism or Hindu perspective has us viewing the release of our attachments as a first step to breaking down our ego self to get to the deeper parts of our experience, those parts which are hidden, a.k.a. our shadow selves.  It is those parts which we either can't even see ourselves, or those parts which we desperately try to look away from that form our ego mind and shape the way we interact with and view the world around us.
Jung recognized, just as the Buddhist, Sufi, Essene and Hindu monks have understood for thousands of years now, that in order to reach those higher states of being and consciousness (some call samadhi, moksha, nirvana, enlightenment, being in the christ-like or buddha state) we must illuminate our shadows in all aspects of the self.  Every great master in history has had to rise above turmoil to achieve their enlightened state.
So how on earth could we possibly do that?
This daunting task which most people shy away from or vehemently fight against will shake a person to the very core of their existence.  That is precisely the process though, to strip away all aspects of the self until we can see what is truly there.  We need to shine a spotlight on every aspect of our selves from the simple flaws we might not see all the way to the deep dark skeletons some keep tucked away from the world.  It is only by examining and revealing all aspects of ourselves that we can work through those difficult shadows.
The first and most important step though in working through something difficult, as explained by any effective major psychological teaching is to recognize what is there, and owning it.  Embracing our shadows, losing the fears we drown our lives in, will help us to overcome those aspects we can't seem to rise out of.  Admitting and owning ones flaws and struggles us a task for the courageous, for we must have resolve and strength if we are to endure our undoing to be able to give our consciousness the reboot it deserves. Just as Bill W. tells the world with AA, the first step is admitting that there is something to improve.  It is acknowledging that we are imperfect.
Can you see your imperfections?
The hardest part of our journey is recognizing where we are and taking steps to move beyond what we are and what situation we came into on this earthly plane.
Let's work together to rediscover our true selves...
Let's follow Peter Pan's lead as he found his shadow and reattached it to himself, just as he made himself whole again by embracing his shadow, so too can we!
